Description: The temps will be cool (OK, cold in the morning), we are still planning on doing the ride. The forecast is for a sunny day with temps in the low 40s at the start (10 am), rising into the mid 50s during the day. Dress warm!
Sheila and I are planning on having an 8:30 breakfast at Ernie's Coffee Shop, located at 1207 Emerald Bay Rd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150. Ernie's is on the right side of highway 50, about 1/4 - 1/2 mile before the Y intersection. The ride will begin at 10 am from the Raley's parking lot. Raley's is located between Ernies and the Y on the left side of highway 50. The distance around Lake Tahoe is 73 miles with 4,359' of climbing. We are planning on 6-7 hours to complete the ride. As it's mid-October (the quiet season at Tahoe), we anticipate that traffic will be light.
From South Lake Tahoe, we will be traveling up the west side of the lake (clockwise direction). As long as you keep Lake Tahoe on your right side, it's hard to get lost. We are planning on stopping for lunch at Safeway in King's Beach. Safeway is located on the left just before the junction with highway 267.
We will not be providing Cue sheets. The key cues are to turn right onto CA 28 at mile 28 (Y intersection in Tahoe City). Safeway Kings Beach is located between mile 38 and 39. Turn right onto Lakeshore Blvd in Incline Village between miles 41 and 42. Follow Lakeshore all the way to NV 28 and turn right. Keep the lake to your right as you complete the route.
